This is an account of Jenny's great 4 x grandmother's life in 19th century India. A sister to eleven siblings and one of four daughters born to a military drummer boy, Wilhelmina finds life to be a whirlwind of change at the age of fifteen. We piece together a picture of what that actually meant, how it felt to be a woman living in India of European heritage. We explore how her marriage to the son of a Yorkshire born weaver changes her life overnight and how Wilhelmina must quickly learn how to become a memsahib and fit into society for she is now seen as a microcosm of the broader structures of the empire.
