Paul Whitton is a local historian and his talk is about, ‘Mary de Bohun, Royal Lady of Hinton’. Hinton Waldrist is not far from Faringdon and in the Middle Ages its castle was rebuilt in stone when it belonged to the Bohuns, the Earls of Hereford. Mary de Bohun was brought up here and married Henry of Bolingbroke. One of her six children was Humphrey Duke of Gloucester who is the ‘Duke Humphrey’ who gave his name to the oldest part of the Bodleian Library. There will be several local connections that Paul will mention.
